Collection: Estelle Ribeyre

“In her images and films, light, the textures of black and white, and the artisanal gesture (printing, screen printing, ink) meet an attentive gaze, almost static yet vibrant: trees grow, clouds stretch, summits erode. Her patient, sensitive approach invites us to lie down on the earth, to let the path drink us in, and to join the world’s intimacy as it breathes: becoming dust to blend into landscapes in search of the living.”

Estelle Ribeyre is an artist and filmmaker based in Rennes whose work—filmic, photographic, and editorial—centers on landscape. She specializes in documentary and seeks above all an artisanal relationship to her practice through drawing, screen printing, and analog photography.
These mediums are first explored independently in several photographic projects: “Rue de l’Alma”, “La civette de Mme Martiaux” … and in illustration and screen printing with the Atelier du Bourg (a collective of screen printers). Gradually, she decided to experiment with making films from these photographs and illustrations “Je ne suis pas un héros”, where she explores—poetically—how to bring a still image to life.
