Congratulations to Ji Songlin on his solo exhibition, "Traces in the Structure" (Traces dans la structure), at the Galerie L’Espace du Dedans in Lille.
The exhibition showcases the artist’s works on paper, offering an opportunity to discover his latest creations.
"In Ji Songlin’s ink works, painting is not the representation of an external form, but a process in which body, time, and material interact. The image takes shape through the repetition of lines, the accumulation of ink layers, and the continuity of a restrained gesture. The artist seeks to control the direction, intensity, and rhythm of each stroke. Yet, the fibers of the *xuan* paper, the diffusion of water and ink, fluctuations in physical state, and the inevitable hesitations and shifts inherent in a prolonged creative process ensure that the same gesture never yields two perfectly identical results. […]"
